Building Based Student Support Team-BBSST
The BBSST is a designated school-based committee designed to meet the needs of general education students at-risk of failure due to academics, behavior, or drop-out. BBSST plans are for regular education classes only. BBSST is not used for students on an active IEP or 504, IB or AP classes, gifted classes or magnet classes, or any other "honor" or advanced class of choice. It is used for students with chronic academic and/or behavior challenges in general education classes, career technology, and alternative education classes.
Building Based Student Support Teams are fully implemented in all schools in the Barbour County School System. These teams meet on a regular basis to review referrals made by parents, teachers and other staff members.
The BBSST process is mandated by the Lee v Macon Consent Decree and the Alabama Administrative Code.
For more information regarding the BBSST process or to make a parent referral to BBSST, please contact your school principal or the Exceptional Student Services Coordinator in the Central Office at the Barbour County Board of Education Office, Clayton, Alabama or by telephone at 334-775-3453, ext 1011. |
